Dock Box / Changehouse
Summerwood delivered the dock box as they promised, on about 4 skids, and all pre-framed and partially assembled. So no fumbling around in making the walls square, they were already done and sheathed. Once the truck placed the skids on the side of the road, it took a few hours and a lot of heavy lifting to unload all the material onto the dock. I was surprised for a 93 sq ft structure how much stuff there was.
Luckily my brother and a couple neighbours came by to help lift and brought some much needed coffee and donuts. The walls were all one piece and still very heavy for 3 people. Within one day we had the walls and a couple roof gables assembled. It was taking form fast!
With the dock elevation combined with the height of the dock box roof, this was getting beyond what my brother and I felt comfortably doing. I hired Jared of Witward Construction out of Port Dover to assist in the rest. He and his helper Ken were great with heights and had the structure looking top notch within a couple weeks.
This was a tougher build then expected, yet it came together great and Summerwood provided enough extra pieces to allow for some custom cedar trim at the end.
Now it's time to enjoy the dock, catch some fish and have a beer!
