Norfolk’s by-law department under fire as trailers remain on Hastings Drive

myFM has learned that there are still trailers parked and staying overnight on Hastings Drive in Long Point.

Frustration boiled over at Townhall on Tuesday when Mayor Charlie Luke addressed the issue.

It’s been some three months now since the Ontario Municipal Board ruled that no trailers or overnight camping were allowed.

With these strict rules in place, somehow these trailers remain.

Earlier in the meeting, both Mayor Charlie Luke and councilor Peter Black pointed out the complaints they receive regarding their bylaw department who are either extremely delayed to respond or don’t return phone calls or emails.

Luke said the fact this happens goes against Norfolk County’s policy which gives these employees roughly a day window to respond to calls as a minimum.

CAO David Cribbs said they hold a private meeting next week to discuss it with the head of their bylaw department.
