DESPITE OMB HEARING, COUNCIL LOOKING TO SELL OFF LAND IN LONG POINT

Some highly sought after and highly debated beachfront property may soon be for sale in Long Point.

On Tuesday, our elected officials voted on a motion that would have staff looking into selling county-owned property on Hastings Drive.

The reason for Norfolk owning the property, amongst other things, was to prevent more ongoing issues with lands owners and the countyA lot of our elected officials believe it's a liability issue to sell the land, but for the man who raised the motion, Councillor Noel Haydt, he felt the opposite.

 

Some councilors expressed concerns about looking into selling these hazard land properties, and they feel it will just lead to more trouble down the road, especially with an ongoing OMB case on the lands right now.

In the end, our elected officials agreed to look forward and have staff come back with costs should they decide to specific pieces of county-owned land.
