Norfolk County will let the courts decide the fate of Hastings Drive

February 14, 2019

A court decision will ultimately decide the fate of whether or not trailers will be allowed on Hastings Drive.

Last year, an O-M-B hearing stated that trailers were not allowed on the controversial stretch of land in Long Point, but Mayor Kristal Chopp questioned this believing that trailers which were on the property before the decision should be considered legal nonconforming.

Deputations were made on Tuesday asking that trailers be allowed to remain on the property as legal nonconforming before the ruling was made.

Councilor Tom Masschaele put forward motion after the deputations that stated that the Norfolk County council solicitor will withdraw the county’s response from their civil proceeding on hastings and that the county rely on to outcome of the court decision which is expected to provide guidance on the issue of legal non conforming.
